The perfect cleaning companion for your Snugg lifestyle has arrived. Handmade in Stoffberg in the Sunshine Province of Mpumalanga, and produced in small batches using age-old organic techniques, VELD Boerseep is the gentlest natural soap we’ve ever come across.
VELD founder, Corné Botha, tells her story below:
Boerseep is a traditional soap made from beef fat (Tallow), water and lye. Once cured there is no trace left of any lye, thus making it a very healthy choice for soap.
VELD boerseep is made on our farm Grootrietvlei in Stoffberg Mpumalanga. I started making the soap after I saw how effective it is to remove the toughest stains. My son made a “drawing” for me with a black permanent marker on our very light carpet. After trying all the detergents that I know was famous for removing stains, none could get the black ink off the carpet. The only soap that was able to remove the black ink was liquid boerseep that I received as a sample from someone else.
I did a bit of research and found that boerseep is actually very good for your skin, because there are none of the extra chemicals which you will find in normal commercialized soap and tallow is one of the best oils for your skin. So, being a cattle farmer’s wife and beef tallow is widely available in our community with local butcheries, I started making boerseep with herbs and essential oils that is very good for your skin.
My husband and I have 3 toddlers, and we are all using the soap, so it is also good for delicate skin. Friends and family members with skin conditions like eczema testify that the VELD Turmeric and tea tree boerseep took away their eczema, others with acne problems whether it is from hormones or just a teenage skin – made the acne much better after just a few washes.
My aim with this soap is to provide people with a healthier option for washing, and not to expose our skin to so many chemicals, which can be very harmful to your skin and total body health. While all the soaps in the VELD range is good for washing your face, body and hands and even your clothes, the Charcoal & Mint boerseep is very good for acne and the Turmeric and Tea tree boerseep for skin conditions like eczema or itchy skin.
Soon to come there will also be a citronella soap that will help keep those mozzies away.Corné Botha – founder of VELD Boerseep
I want to provide people also to be more self-sustainable and eco-friendly by making your own liquid soap, by taking the grated boerseep and mixing it with water and re-fill your own liquid soap bottles.
